Aromatherapy can be used in a number of ways for your baby. The healing power of aromatherapy oils helps you baby to be healthy and free from harmful germs and bacteria. Just be careful to keep the amount of aromatherapy oil very low as this is enough for a baby or young child.

The most suitable aromatherapy oils for your baby are camomile, lavender, rose, neroli, sandalwood and tangerine. The best carrier oil for babies is sweet almond oil as it has a softening, lubricating effect on the skin and is much kinder than the mineral oil that most commercial baby products are based on.

This article will now discuss some of the simple yet effective ways to keep your baby healthy by using aromatherapy.

1. Baby bath - You can add soothing aromatherapy oils to your baby baths to create a lovely smell and soothe his sensitive skins. Camomile, rose or lavender oils are best for this purpose.

2. Germ free - Try using any of these oils – lavender, frankincense, sandalwood, neroli, camomile, eucalyptus or geranium, in a vaporizer in your baby’s room. They help to purify the air and keep germs at bay as well as being pleasant and soothing.

3. Teething - When your baby is teething, camomile oil helps to calm and soothe inflamed gums. Dilute two drops in a little warm water and rub over the affected area three times a day.
4. Cradle cap – This flaky, red, itchy condition often affects small babies. Mix up a blend of one drop of camomile oil and one drop of rose oil in 4 fl oz (100 ml) of sweet almond oil. Gently rub over the cradle cap three times a day.

5. Colds and blocked noses - When your baby has a stuffy nose or a cold, use any of these oils – lavender, eucalyptus, thyme, lemon, pine or rosemary, in a vaporizer. They eliminate germs and help to ease breathing.

Since baby guinea pigs are so small and tiny it’s always a good idea to take more precautions to help to make them safe while they are in their cage. Take their little heads for example, their heads could easily become stuck in between the bars and this would lead to asphyxiation.

One way to prevent this from happening is to line the cage walls with cardboard from the bottom up to around one foot. If your cage is made from wire grid, then you could add a new wall by placing more grid on the outside and then putting cardboard in between the two cage walls. After the babies have gotten to be around 4-6 months old this extra wall or cardboard can be removed. They have now gotten big enough to not worry about their little heads becoming stuck.

After the new babies are born and mom has had time to sufficiently bond and clean them it will be safe for you to touch the newborn pups. Your smell on the new pups will not affect the mom from taking care of them herself. This would also be a great time to monitor their weight. By keeping track of their weight this will give you some idea of how well their health is coming along.

If by chance your baby pup is not growing at the same rate an another one then you will need to step in and place this pup with the mom alone at feeding time. This will ensure that this little pup is receiving their fair share. If this pups weight does not improve or any of the others are not gaining weight, then you need to get in contact with your veterinarian as quickly as possible.

Baby pups also require alfalfa rich hay in the form of pellets as it is beneficial to their growing needs and is also good for a pregnant guinea pig. Since guinea pigs are a plant based eater they need to not be given, sugars, fats, seeds/nut or animal products. They do need a fresh supply of water kept at hand and timothy hay.

There are many videos and CDs on the market for babies. You may have heard of theories that classical music can help your baby become smarter, and by exposing them to music we are introducing our baby to the world around us.

Music is good for calming your baby and can soothe them so that they become more restful at bedtimes, or for their nap time. There are many good choices out there for your baby.

If you find a piece of music relaxing and love listening to, you may find it is ideal for your baby too. Mozart or Bach are good collections to have for bedtime. For soothing music there is Enya, or another choice for something peaceful and relaxing is Georgia Kelly’s harp music.

Nursery rhymes and music from children’s films can stimulate your baby’s senses when he is awake. Philip Glass is a minimalist and a lot of children respond to his music; the music is simple with a good rhythm and when your baby gets older, he will dance to it. To help get your baby to sleep try the gospel and spiritual music.

You can buy sound machines which simulate the sound of dolphins, or water in the form of rain, the sea or ocean which can be soothing whilst blocking out any background noise in your home. You can also put on a fan, though not directly in your baby’s direction, or some other form of white noise. It isn’t necessary to create an alternate silent surrounding for your baby, as they also need to get used to the usual home rhythm and the activities that go on around the house.

Classical music is also a good genre of music that you can try, if you’re not used to listening to it. Listening to what helps your baby get to sleep, can also be relaxing for you, so while you are both going through that bonding process, you can both enjoy some restful periods together.

Now that you and your new baby are home, there are new responsibilities and a lot of challenges ahead that will be exhausting. So what is a typical day and night for any new parents with a new baby? There may be answers to this as your baby adapts to living outside the womb. Keep your baby wrapped up warm and held close to you, so that he feels secure. If you have decided to breastfeed, this will take some getting used to.

If you’re feeding your new baby formula milk, this should be done every 3 to 5 hours. Breastfeeding needs to more frequent, and you may feel that you are doing this all day and night. Now you can empathise with cows. You will be changing a lot of nappies until you get used to their pattern. A good time to do it is shortly after being fed, which can be once an hour to start off with. You can check them every so often.

Whilst they still have their umbilical cord, it is best to sponge bath every few days, but the bottom should be washed daily. By using a soft washcloth rinsed in warm water you can clean your baby every day – wipe the face, neck, hands and bottom gently. After a few weeks, you will be able to bath your baby daily which will prevent nappy rash, but do watch your baby’s skin especially if it is sensitive. See that the skin doesn’t get too dry so monitor and see what is best for your baby.

You will find that your baby’s finger and toes nails soon grow and will need to be trimmed so that they don’t scratch themselves. The nails can even be long at birth, so take care by pushing the fingerpad away from the nail and using nail clippers clip away. It is easier to do this when your baby is asleep, as they may try to jerk their fingers and toes away from you.

For the first month, you will be working 24/7 caring for your baby. Try to get as much as help as possible so that you can get enough rest and sleep as you can. It is exhausting being a mother, but also one of the most precious moments of your life.

Every baby is a blessing and you, as parents, are stewards of this blessing. You have waited long enough to welcome him to the outside world. If you are a first time parent, you may find these tips helpful in looking after your newborn.

1. Feed your baby right. Whether you have decided to feed your baby with breast milk or infant formula, make sure that you are giving him the right amount and at the right time.

Studies have proven that breast milk is still the best nourishment for newborn. However, if you have decided to use infant formula, check its label for the proper quantity and time interval for feeding your baby, unless your doctor recommends otherwise. Help your baby burp after feeding.

2. Have your baby get enough sleep. Newborn babies spend most hours of the day sleeping. During the first few weeks, your baby may sleep for only 30 minutes to 3 hours. After six weeks or more, you will notice that the sleeping pattern of your baby will change.

Do not be bothered if your baby keeps on sleeping as it helps in the mental and physical development of a child. However, you should wake him up if it is time to feed him.

3. Know the proper way of bathing your baby. Bathing a newborn for the first time can be the most terrifying experience for a first time mom. You do not have to bathe a newborn baby everyday.

It is enough to bathe him two to three times in a week using only a sponge. You should do this quickly since your baby is not yet used to cold environment.

Make sure that the umbilical cord will not get wet to avoid infection. You can only do tub bathing once the umbilical cord of your baby falls off.

4. Take good care of your baby’s delicate skin. His skin is very sensitive and so you should only use products for babies. They are also prone to skin rashes which are normal. However, if the rashes cause irritation and fever, you should consult your pediatrician.

5. Know when to give your baby his medicine. When your baby was required by the doctor to undergo certain medication, you should observe proper dosage and be conscious on any possible adverse reaction of your baby to the medication.

Child Care is often at the forefront of many parents’ minds. Because there are occasions when everyone needs to leave the home, and it is important to have a support network in place that can be called upon to assist if the need arises. Often, the people who are called for child minding are family members, which works great in general.

However, family are not always available to help; and so it is important to have a network available outside of that. This is where hired childcare professionals, or baby sitters can step in to assist. (If you have a very young child then check out Care.com for more resources to help you)

Win a FREE Year of Child Care when you Register with Care.com!
There are certain things that should be considered when choosing a baby sitter.

First and foremost, the baby sitter should be credible — meaning that he or she should have a good record with past employers.
Second is that certain character traits and characteristics should be present in the baby sitter. For example, they should have at least a general knowledge of how to run a household. And being sensible about it, common sense is a good asset here!

Ask yourself the question, ‘Do I want this person in charge of MY child?’. If the answer is anything other then a definite YES. Move on. You can always get another babysitter.
And of course he or she should be patient when it comes to dealing with kids because that is really the bulk of his or her work.

Win a FREE Year of Child Care when you Register with Care.com!

Most parents prefer to be hands-on with their kids. Raising kids is a difficult job, but still parents want to do it themselves because they feel like it is the only way to make sure that they can properly train their children to grow up in the way that ideally they would want them to be. And also, children are fun! Why should the babysitter get all the joy, fun and abundance that looking after children can bring?

However lots of parents have no choice because both of them have to work to fend for the family so either they leave their kids with other family members, friendly neighbors or else hire babysitters or put their kids in a childcare center to help out. This is not neccessarily an ideal solution. But sometimes it is the only option. And one that is great and I use a lot is

A baby sitter is often a stranger (at least at first), so careful thought should be given by the family about this decision from the time they say yes to the idea, to the actual choosing of the baby sitter.
It is also advisable to ask around people who have past experiences with baby sitters and child care so that you can have an idea how to set your criteria and how to actually find and eventually hire someone that will suit you. Mothers groups and baby clinics can also be a good source of advice in this area.

http://www.editurl.com/3h1

After the initial research you are now ready to do interviews for possible prospects. During the interview, you should not only concentrate on the resume or the answers but you should more importantly, watch out for the body language because this will tell you a lot about the person. How comfortable they feel with you, but also with your child. Ask routine questions but also come up with questions that will make you get to know more about the morals or the personality of the one applying. You don’t want to come home to an impromptu party they decided to organise at you house!

Finally, after choosing a baby sitter, make sure that you do some advance preparations like giving the babysitter a tour of the places in the house where he or she will be working, machines he or she will be operating, list of numbers to call in case of emergencies and talk to him or her about any special instructions you might want to give. Also, set down the family policies with him or her on specific behaviour, acceptable punishments for naughty behaviour etc. These are simple things, but making it clear at the beginning will mean that you don’t have any future problems.

Hiring a baby sitter allows parents to have a greater focus on their jobs. But during the first days of the baby sitters tenure at your home, one of the parents should watch how the baby sitter is during active duty even for just a few hours. This is a sort of transition time and it is also a way of still being involved with your kids despite the fact that you already have a baby sitter….

There are many good babysitters around and hopefully you will find the right one for your family and child care needs. Finding good childcare will not only free up your time and give you more flexibility, it will also add a very valuable team member to your family in the form of a baby sitter.

The mother of a baby is the most busy person on earth, when she is not very gathered about her daily routine vis-à-vis the baby.

Breast feeding

Everyday she has to bother about the baby’s feeding, sleeping, clothing, changing and bathing. It is the best to feed your own milk to the child. Please do not forget to give her the first milk of yours because that would contain colostrums, which is vital for the immune system of the child. Mother’s milk will always create the body resistance and the child will be a healthy one in future.

http://www.baby.moneybizhome.com

When you are breast feeding your child, the food that causes problems in your body may be communicated to the baby as well. Foods that cause gas or cold should be avoided or the baby will have uncomfortable state or congestion.

Bottle feeding

If you are bottle-feeding your baby for some reasons, then make sure that the bottles are well sterilized and clean. Scrub them with washing liquids. Boil them for 25 minutes to kill unwanted organism that may have developed in it due to the fermenting milk. Steam sterilizer and cold sterilizer methods are also there, about which one has to consult with an expert and should see to it that those are readily available in the market.

Baby sleeping

The materials needed to put the baby to sleep are a good, firm mattress, sheets and blankets. Keep one feet distance from the nostril range of the baby if you are lying along with your baby on the same bed. There should not be unnecessary clothing or clothes around the baby’s body and bed which may cause temperature rise and heating. The baby is not going to talk about it, and you should be sensitive enough to remove the body coverings as much as possible. There should be a mosquito net, or at least a netted covering around the baby to keep away the flies and the mosquitoes.

Clothing

Summer clothes should be light cotton ones. When the baby is taken out, make sure that his head does not get the direct sun. In winter, there may be sweaters, trousers and other woolens.

Changing

The baby’s diapers should be regularly changed. The intervals should be fixed according to the baby’s routine of potting and wetting. Despite the routine, the baby may need changing because of untimely nature calls at times. It is the baby’s right to feel dry at every moment. See to it that the bed is not wetted and the smelly clothes and bed sheets are removed.

Bathing

The baby needs a mouth washing with cotton. A bath tub large enough to hold it and is easy to wash should be made available. The baby should enjoy the water which can be assessed if leg splashing which is very distinct. The baby should be rubbed with baby oil and baby cream. The nail clippers should be used at bath time. After bath, the baby should be thoroughly dried and should be applied with a baby powder.

Immunisation

The baby should be immunized against Small Pox & Measles with BCG within 3 months of its age. The first DPT (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Psertussis, Polio, HIB, Meningitis C) is due within the first 2 months followed by the 2nd and the 3rd one at one month intervals. The MMR vaccination against Measles, Mumps and Rubella should be done within 1 years of age. The boosters should be taken after the baby is 4 years old.

Training and Education

Though regular training and teaching should not be started before the age of three years, the child’s habits and sense of discipline is cultivated through the discipline the mother maintains. When the mother is calm against odds like the baby fever, or baby dysentery while making sure of the treatments, the child gets the idea to be calm against disastrous times.

The most important babycare tip

The parents should find enough time to spend with the baby.

Prenatal classes are helpful and supportive for you both.

What classes do

They will help explain a lot of the choices available before, during, and after the birth and will tell you about labor, birth, and baby care. You’ll also meet other expectant parents with due dates near yours.

Where to find classes

If you’re planning a hospital delivery, hospital based classes can be useful, they’ll help familiarize you with procedures and will include a tour of the labor ward. Child birth educators generally offer classes in hospitals as well as birthing centers, but some communities offer other local venues as well. Ask friends who have young babies to recommend a good class that’s easy to get to. Most child birth classes include guidance on preparing your self for an active birth, in which your partner or birth coach is also involved.

There’s now a huge choice in maternity care, although how wide the choice is will depend on what’s available in your area. Look into your prenatal options also means looking at your birth options.

Who Can Deliver Care?

Once you know you’re pregnant, your first call will probably be to your family doctor or gynecologist. He or she may confirm the pregnancy with another test, take your blood pressure, and ask when your last period was to work out the due date. Your doctor will tell you the different options for prenatal care available in your area, and you can also talk through where the baby will be born, since these are often linked. Don’t feel you have to make your mind up on any of these issues immediately go away and think about the possibilities before finalizing details.

Hospital care

You’ll be cared for by hospital based doctors, your obstetrician and or midwife. The prenatal care may lack the informality of other options, but if you have any complications, have an existing medical condition, or are having twins, it’s probably the wisest choice to have your pregnancy monitored by professionals in this setting.

Midwives

In many places, prenatal care is given almost entirely by midwives who are based either in a free standing site dedicated to prenatal care labor and delivery or in a hospital. The comfortable, home like feeling of midwife centers is a comfort to many women who would like to have a natural birth out side of a hospital setting. Many women benefit from building a relationship with the midwives who will also deliver their babies.

Your doctor or obstetrician’s office

You’ll have consultations, checkups, and tests through out your pregnancy to make sure you and your baby are doing fine. Most pregnancies are perfectly normal, but its vital to have these check up to make sure all is well and to spot possible problems early, before any harm is done. Here, too, you will have many opportunities to get to know and bond with the professional who will be on hand to deliver your baby when the time comes.

Mother

It’s worth questioning your own ideas about parenthood, and whether what you think of as a mother’s role isn’t just as applicable to fathers.

Attitudes to fathering

Traditionally, fathers came home from work expecting the home to be clean, the children ready for bed, and a meal on the table. Today, it’s hard to believe that many modern mothers would stand for this.

Some women still expect their partners to handle all the family finances, some times to their disadvantage. It’s a good idea if couples can find a fair way to share their financial burdens.

It’s often assumed that men do all the heavy work. However, while a man must do this when his partner is pregnant and the baby is young, women are bigger and stronger than they used to be, and these tasks can be shared.

Women still tend to take on the chores while their partners play with the baby, even when both parents work. It’s much better, though, if both of you play with your baby care, and share the house work equally.

Some women leave discipline to their partners, but this is both out dated and a cop out. Try to agree on attitudes to discipline and apply them consistently.

You may never do anything more important than bringing up a child. However satisfying your career, whatever sports or leisure goals you’ve achieved, you’ll find parenthood is a role that is rewarding in a way that is unlike anything else.

Following Your Instincts

The instinct to bear children is a strong one, and luckily the joy and fulfillment felt by most parents far out weigh some of the inconveniences and compromises that they may have to accept. Although this isn’t always so, making the decision to have a child usually comes from with in a close, loving relationship between two people who decide that they would like to express their mutual affection in having a baby. This is just as well you’re unlikely to make the decision because you’re attracted by the idea of reduced free time, never being able to put your self first, sleeplessness, and forking out for designer infant clothes! lf you think carefully about the changes brought about by parenthood, you’ll realize that it’s your genes that are pushing you relentlessly toward recreating your selves in the form of children. Now a days, people don’t like to admit that they might be at the beck and call of basic urges and tend to dress them up as something more refined. That’s fine, so long as we remember that we can also push back and say no to parenthood. For some, that can be the best decision, because having a baby is a commitment like no other.

More Than Just Nature

A.side from biological reasons, people also want to have a baby for fulfillment and personal achievement. Human beings arc social animals, and the way they think and act always has a social clement. This is shown most clearly in human parenthood in thc case of adoption, where (usually) two people voluntarily make a commitment to assume all the rights and duties of natural parents, while being genetically unrelated to the child. Adoption also illustrates the depth of the emotional need that people feel to nurture, educate and above all, love a child. What you give to your children in time, love, understanding, and teaching will constantly be repaid as you watch them grow and develop over the years. Every child is genetically a blend of his parents, but he is also a unique personality in his own right, and knowing that you have been the primary influences and educators in allowing that personality to take shape and mature is deeply enriching as well as being a major achievement.

Social And Economic Pressures

In a society where everyone goes to school, everyone expects to go to school. Similarly, when every one except a small minority has children, people expect to have children. It’s as though a person has to have a reason for remaining childless, rather than the opposite. In the past, when families tended to live close together, in the same street or village if not actually in the same house, there were quite important economic reasons for having children. As soon as they were old enough to work, children made a vital contribution to the family’s economic welfare, and parenthood was also a guarantee of being cared for in old age.

Changing Demands

In the much more fragmented society in which we live today, children aren’t expected to contribute to the family income (at least not until they have finished their education), and the state has taken over some of the basic responsibilities for the elderly, or people make their own provision for old age. As a result, the economic demands of the family are now directed downward, from parents to children, instead of the other way around. Bringing up children today can be a costly business, and not just financially. For the first time in history, large numbers of women can achieve a whole range of satisfactions out side parenthood and the home; and with safe methods of contraception, they can also choose when and whether they want to have children. This doesn’t mean that large numbers of women are opting out of motherhood, though some are; but what they are doing is fitting having and bringing up children in to lives where work and a career are also seen as theirs by right.

A Question Of Upbringing

Having begun to consider parenthood seriously, the first thing to realize before you go further is that having a baby is just the overture to bringing up a child. It isn’t too difficult to imagine having a baby the excitement, the celebrations, the delighted grandparents, the supportive friends and family. But it’s almost impossible to visualize bringing up a child if you haven’t done it. The demands in time, energy, and emotion are almost limitless, unless of course the first thing you’re going to teach your toddler is how to use the remote control for the TV and VCR. This isn’t an option for most people because, even before you become parents, you’ll have some idea of the kind of people you hope your children will grow up to be, and of the upbringing that will make this idea a reality.

A Firm Foundation

Upbringing begins from the moment of birth. For a baby care or young child, everything is a learning experience, so how you care for your baby is influential from day one. It’s worth looking at the background of some one you know who is independent but has a large capacity to love and interrelate with others, who is effective and confident, who recognizes that there is such a thing as the general good, and wants to contribute to it. You’ll probably find that person found the world an accepting, loving, encouraging, reasonable, and respectful place from birth. His parents made him feel that way, and the foundation for everything he has become was provided by them in his first year of life.

Father

It’s a good idea to be clear about your own attitude to parenting to make sure it doesn’t reinforce traditional stereo types about mothers and fathers. What you may think of as a mother’s role can be just as applicable to fathers.

Attitudes to mothering

While it’s still true that it’s mostly women who stay at home, many are now returning to work within months of the birth. Also, more and more men are becoming stay at home dads.

Recent surveys show that women, even full time working mothers, still do most of the chores in the home. Ask your self if this is fair there’s no reason why cooking and cleaning can’t be shared.

Tasks such as dealing with care givers and teachers and taking the kids to school used to be seen as a mother’s responsibility. But more fathers are fitting daily activities like taking their child to the doctor into their working day.

It used to be thought that mothers put children to bed, but most fathers enjoy the bed time routine, especially if they’ve been away from their children all day.

The idea prevalent not so long ago that it was somehow demeaning for a man to push a stroller is now laughable. Men are pleased to be seen doing this and are also more than happy to take their children out with out their partners.
